Another FBF (#8)

This FBF is brought to you by the encouragement of my dear cousin, Georgia. I think if I let another Friday pass without posting photos from my past, she might stop reading my blog. Apparently, she thrives on my embarassment. (Just joking, G!)
Since we're going to head out and go swimming with some friends today, this shot of me in the pool around 1977 just spoke to me. We lived in AZ at the time and my grandparents had come for a visit. No, I don't actually remember this experience but that's my Grandaddy sitting there behind me in his kickin' red jumpsuit and black socks.
So, to thank Georgia for her encouragement and inspiration, I wanted to share with you all this shot:
See, I have always looked up to her and she's always been there for me.
(She is giving me a bottle) Apparently since July of 1976 according to the back of the photo:
Thanks, G. You're the greatest!
And you were cute, too! (still are.)

Wildlife

Warmer weather has brought out all kind of creatures out in our area. Lots of birds, bunnies and even snakes. (the small, harmless garden variety) And look what I spotted down by the creek today, hiding in the vincas:

Here's a closer look. Isn't he handsome? It is hard to tell from this shot, but his eyes were the most amazing shade of orange!
Hey, look what we have here in the tree! MONKEYS! We have to be careful with these guys around. They are wild! No juicebox is safe around here.

Strawberries!

We picked strawberries yesterday!

Aron found one!

Our sweet friends Araella and Tara joined us. They found some, too!

Gotta go!

A word

Don't you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you at a high price. So you must honor God with your body. 1Cor 6:19-20

God has brought this verse to my attention twice today, in separate formats. I am not entirely sure why, but I am going to pray on it and trust that he will reveal to me what he wants me to learn.
I wanted to share it with you because sometimes we think, "Hey, I read that in my bible study this morning, and now I heard that same verse on the radio. Huh. What a funny coincidence." I have done that exact thing myself. I really believe God reveals his Word to us and if we aren't open to it, we'll miss it!
Let me know if this happens to you, too!

A little road trip

The Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory and the 120ft steel bat...COOL!

I love that we can just hop in the car and tag along with Rudy on his trips to Louisville. He loves it, too. Really! Mostly because I drive and he works on his laptop for 3 hours. It makes his day easier and I love driving, so it doesn't bother me one bit.

Aron is such a good traveler, too. He slept half of the drive and watched 101 Dalmatians and we were here. It is fun to play in another town and Louisville has lots to do. Since Aron started T-ball this month, he is all about baseball. (We even sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame at bedtime!) So, I thought this trip was the perfect time to visit the Louisville Slugger Factory and Museum. I love any place that offers free admission for kids under 5! HELLO! Finally, somebody 'get's it'! We toured the actual factory where the commercial and MLB bats are made and at the end of the tour we received our very own souvenir mini bat! In the museum, they have one of Babe Ruth's bats displayed and you can see the actual notches he carved for each homerun he it with the bat (21) until it cracked. Very Americana. I loved it and so did Aron. I didn't bring the USB cable so I can't post the pics I took, but those will be up soon.

Hope your Friday has been just as happy!

The Grass is Greener...along with everything else!

Just a few weeks ago I posted this. I thought it would be fun to see the changes as springtime unfolded. What a difference 24 days has made! Check this out:

Look at the diffence in the trees! You can barely see the house across the street anymore. The groundcover (Vincas) and lillies down by the creek have exploded!

Back view: Hey, what happened to our shed?

Ahhhh....all this green. I just love it!

Little Boys (and Girls) of Summer

Oh my goodness. I really can't think of anything cuter than watching a gaggle of 3 and 4 year olds playing T-ball! Last night was Aron's first practice with his first T-ball team and it was too adorable! Those little-bitty kids in those big-ol' batting helments were just as cute as it gets; like real-live little bobble head dolls!

There are two little girls on the team and they are so darling. One has a pink glove and the other one purple! One of the girls is the daughter of the coach, hence the pink bat Aron is gripping.

So what if Aron spent half of the practice clinging to me and in tears because he didn't quite grasp the concept of taking turns running after the ball. I know he'll come out of his shell and "get it" as time goes on. He LOVED batting and running the bases and trading hi-fives with his teammates. This is going to be a great summer!
